AAE Error -9093 HW Buffer driving me crazy!
Seems using almost any VI at a buffer of 128 stops playback and shows this error. Seems to be worse since PT12.5.x HD and now in 12.7 HD
Yes, I can raise buffers to 512 (what a drag when sequencing) but that doesn't always help. What causes this error? Any knows fixes or solutions? I have 32GB RAM, dedicated SSD drives for OS, Audio and VI's. PT System Usage meters are down near 25% until I play a couple notes and then spikes to 100%, stops playback and then returns to lower percentage.

Re: AAE Error -9093 HW Buffer driving me crazy!
It'll take some troubleshooting to try to figure it out. Not sure exactly how your rig is set up as far as clocking and signal flow, but I would break it down to just your main interface and see if the problem persists. Or try using the onboard sound card as your interface and see if the problem happens then. It's a matter of trying to figure out if there's one piece of hardware causing the problem or not. As the message indicates, there could be something else running that's interfering with the processing tasks used by Pro Tools.

Re: AAE Error -9093 HW Buffer driving me crazy!
I was getting this -9093 error at the very start of a lot of sessions and could not figure out what was causing it. Open an old session or create a new one and whenever I hit play for the first time it would pop up. After the initial pop up I usually would not see it again until I reopened Protools. I try to keep my buffer set to 64 and the cache set to 8gb or more. That was on Yosemite runnning PT HD 12.5. Now that I'm on High Sierra running PT HD 2018.3 it seems to be happening a little more than before throughout the sessions. The error seems to pop up regardless of whats in the session. The cpu usage could be less than 10% in some sessions or over 50% in others and the -9093 pops up. Bumping the buffer to 128 or higher helps "sometime". Its a weird deal.
I have searched DUC and other sites with no solid solution to the problem. I will do more testing once again to try and figure it out. 2.93ghz 12-core MP, 24gb 1333, SSD for OS, WD Black for audio. HD Native card with HD Omni. |

Re: AAE Error -9093 HW Buffer driving me crazy!
I get this as well : I think it's VI related but I'm not sure. It aways seems to happen when I first boot up the session, then will fall over once more, and then it'll behave itself for an hour or so, when it'll throw up the same error again. And then will be okay for another hour.
No idea what causes it, I tend to have Safari and Mail open and it could be one of those culprits? Or maybe my sample drive for the VIs is too slow? (It's a 7200rpm so I wouldn't have thought so, but still...) I deleted Avid Application Manager a while ago thinking that could be it but didn't make any difference. I've had my eye on Activity Monitor to see if anything obvious jumps to the top of the list but can't see anything. Total mystery. I've just put it down to "one of those things" and just do my best to ignore it. |

Re: AAE Error -9093 HW Buffer driving me crazy!
I have this issue as well and have yet to figure it out. So far, the only thing that helps is disconnecting from the internet(I still have a router connected for an Artist Mix and iPad).

Quote:
(while protools is running with a session open) If you open task manager, click more details on the bottom, then go to the details tab on the top (between users and services), find protools and right click on it, click on "set affinity", turn off core 0 or 1 (I believe that any of the cores being turned off may work, but I only turn off core 0 out of 12 on my cpu). you should see the 100% spike go down to what your actually cpu usage is at (which can be viewed on the task manager on the tab "processes" If I didn't work, make sure you disable any heavy plugins like AAD or ozone stuff, etc... by pressing the ctrl and windows key together and click on the plugin. bypassing the plugin (when it turns blue) does not turn it off. it must turn dark grey. The only problem with this solution is that it has to be applied every new session you open, or every time you open protools which is a pain in the ass. Let me know if this worked or did not work for you. |
