003 Connections - Quick Newbie Question
Just setting up my 003 Factory, replacing my old analog mixing board, and I was surprised at an apparent limitation of the 003:
It seems that, without firing up the computer and setting up a Pro Tools session to route my input, the only input on the 003 that will route signal to my main monitors is the Aux In. Is this true? e.g. if I plug a mic into one of the xlr inputs, I can't hear it except via a PT session. It seems that I would either need to set up a patch bay to route anything I want to hear to Aux In, or always fire up the computer and create template PT sessions to route my audio. Any other workarounds? Thanks. Mike

Re: 003 Connections - Quick Newbie Question
Most people just use it for protools but there are some workarounds. 1-as you said, plug a little mixer into the aux inputs(even a Behringer would be fine as you are not recording it anyway). 2-use a monitor/source switcher like the Presonus Central Station(highly recommended- really good unit) and patch a little mixer into another set of inputs on that. I am trying to figure out what you are going for by plugging in a mic when you don't have protools open? Maybe if you describe your goal, there might be other options.
