Default Re: Digi 002 Rack: Firewire Link Lost - no 1394 light

To some people this may be old news, but I received a Digi002 console for free from a friend. My boss gave me a laptop, and the guy at the computer shop gave me a SIIG fire wire express card....All I had to invest was $10 for a fire wire cable.....anyways the laptop would not recognize the 002.I must have tried to fix this issue for weeks.I thought it was the power harness issue, but my serial number has a "G" in it.Then I thought my fire wire card was fried..I eventually gave up and then one day I right clicked on my SIIG icon (UB switch) and a small window popped up and showed driver options.I switched to "Microsoft" and everything has been running perfect.I hope this can help some of the many, many people having connection issues.....BTW I love this console !!!.....No more mousing around for me !!!!

Yes, using the legacy firewire driver is a good/known fix for a lot of problems with Firewire devices. It is part of the Windows Optimizations.

So I had an issue where I'd get hardware buffer errors in Pro Tools enough to render the system useless. All I did was take the cover off and disconnect and reconnect the power harness cable and now it's completely stable. Crazy
