Default Firewire connection issues

I have Protools 10.2 running on a Mac pro, Lion 10.7.4. Since the latest update my Digi 003 isn't found by Pro Tools when it opens. The software opens fine but doesn't see the 003. Also the first 16 I/O's aren't selectable when it does open. I've redownloaded the latest 003 drivers as well as the latest version Firewire drives but still no luck. I still have my old P/T 8 system on a G5 and the 003 works fine but for some reason it doesn't on the Mac Pro. Is anyone else having this issue and if so what are you doing to solve it?

Processor 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 12 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

Frustrated!!!!!!!!!

I am also not able to see the 003 rack with pro tools 10.2. I have another issue I am not sure it the reason or not. The new MacBook does not have a FireWire 400 jack. So I got a 800 to 400 and not sure if that is messing it up or not. I have time late tonight to try some options.

I had a similar issue with the same thing. I ended up doing a full, clean uninstall of PT and reinstall. After a restart the 003 did not show up in my system. I had to reinstall the latest drivers for the 003R+ and it fixed the problem.

Initially I was trying to fix another problem. Every couple sessions, when I would bounce to disk, PT would freeze in the middle of a bounce. I would get the dreaded beach ball and have to force quit. It would also dismount the audio drive. Very odd and random at that. I am still trying to diagnose this issue. Which is why I did the above problem solving. My issue still seems to remain.

I am trying to asses whether its a hardware or software issue. Ram, Hard drive, cable, etc.? All started shortly after the PT 10.2 update.

Still searching for a fix or another person out there with anything similar.

Joy!

Haven't looked lately, but the last several driver sets were specific to 002/003 console, and a separate driver for 002/003 rack.

The 400-800 cables work fine...

The drivers are located here:
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...p;DocType=1450

I would simply download the correct drivers and then PT should see the 002/003. You might also do a firmware update so you are at the latest version....

With the unit off hold down 'Aux In->7/8' and the 'Mute' button (next to the Monitor knob), and then turn on the power to the unit. On the 003 you'll see the display say "Load Firmware" and the MIDI Lights (In, Out1, Out2) will all start flashing. The MIDI lights flashing is the only indication on the 003 Rack that the unit is in this mode.

Once it is in this mode, launch Pro Tools, and you will see the message, "003 has firmware version x.xx, do you want to update..." Click the Update button to upload the 003 firmware.

This will take a while... like 30 minutes and should display the numbers increasing on the 003 display.

also try holding down the N key when starting up pro tools. Select the 003.

I doubt its a firewire issue.
