Video Game sounds
Anyone know of a synth or plug-in or some kinda procedure or some website where I can emulate/or learn to emulate classic video games sounds? Like sound effects like from the original 8-bit NES or older Atari games even.

Eric,
If it helps, I have the original NES 8 bit sounds as wavs. How do I get them to you. |

Many of the Tweakbench effects and instruments are designed for this
http://www.tweakbench.com/ Peach, Toad and Triforce say Nintendo in the description so I'd start there.

Thanks for the replies guys! Can the files be zipped and just emailed? They small enough? If not, contact me and I can setup a digidelivery. Also, are there any legal issues in using them for broadcast projects?
[email protected] I looked at the tweakbench stuff and it sounds perfect, though it looks like it's Windows VST only. I'm still on an ancient G5. |

Eric
Check your email. As I wrote in the email these were ripped directly from NES ROMS, does that make them legal?? I would think not!!! We all used them with MAME years ago. |

Re: Video Game sounds
Hello, Eric (or anyone else knowledgeable on the subject). Tried to PM you but apparently that function has been disabled. I also found the Magical8bit link but do not know how to use it in PT. I have a PPC Mac. The instructions say to put it into the following folder (HD-library-audio-plugins-components), which I did. After that, the only thing I knew to do was try to bring it up in PT by opening the inserts and looking for it in the instrument menu (where my Reason plugin is). It wasn't there or in any of the other insert menus (such as EQ, Dynamics, etc.). Is there something I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Video Game sounds
It doesn't come up as PT plug in. I actually used it via Garageband and routed the output of that into PT tracks. It works via Logic as well, if you have that available. Unless their gonna develop and RTAS version (which most likely ain't gonna happen) these seem to be the only options. Hope that helps!

Re: Video Game sounds
There's a fantastic SID chip emulator that I use all of the time called QuadraSID. You'll need to use the vst to rtas wrapper to use it in protools, but it's totally worth it.
