Default Errors (-6086) and (-6093) H/W Buffer Mac Pro DIGI002

I am really in a major bind here. Here is my situation:

I have a BRAND NEW Mac Pro and DIGI002 system.

I just installed, following to the letter of the law....and this is what is happening when I try to play a session.

I open the DEMO session file, or any session I have on an external drive, and midway through playback i get stopped short with this error..."The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the H/W buffer size in the playback engine panel. "(-6086) or (-6093).

This error message can occur at any point during playback, and happens EVERY time. I have gone into the Playback Engine panel and tried every conceivable combination of H/W buffer size, number of processors, CPU usage limit, and DAE Playback buffers, to no avail.

I am running NO PLUG-INS, and sessions with as few as 10 tracks. This system shouldn't even break a sweat with this. I am a fairly new Pro Tools convert, however I had a seasoned Pro Tools engineer here for 5 hours yesterday trying to figure it out and he is stumped as well. We searched the answer bases DUC for clues, and although we find plenty on this problem, no one seems to be dead in the water over this, and I see no difinitive solutions. In my case here, i can't run my system at all!

I am running a new Mac Pro 2x2GHZ Dual Core with 2gig RAM, (2) 500gig drives, one 250gig drive.
My system software is OS x 10.4.9.

My Digi setup is NEW DIGI002, Pro Tools LE 7.1.1.

I have downloaded the 7.3 update hoping that would be the answer and it wasn't.

I also saw where it recommended I install the OSx 10.4.9 Combi update. I downloaded this, and tried to install it, but I get an error message: "You cannot install Mac OS X combined (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update".

I also tried downloading and running the "pre bind script". This did nothing.

I am dead in the water here.....its like having a Farari in the driveway that won't start. Any help anyone could provide would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Have you tried connecting the 002 to either port on the Mac Pro? It seems to prefer one or the other (some machines it's the rear port, some it's the front...).

What types of hard drives are you using?

Are you absolutely sure all INSTALLED plug-ins are the Intel Mac versions - having incompatible plug-ins installed, even if they're not being used in the session, can cause all kinds of problems.

As for plug-ins installed.....I ONLY have the ones that shipped with my DIGI 002 FACTORY Bundle. The unit shipped with Pro Tools LE 7.1.1, so i would assume they are Intel-Mac ready? If not, how can I tell?

My drives are Serial ATA, 7200rpm, 500 and 250 GIG drives. They should be ok.....?

I havent tried switching ports......I will try that this afternoon.

I'm getting the same errors as well - even with a single audio track, a 1024 buffer and zero plug-ins in my session.

I will try the front port this evening and report results.

Best,
JD

Hey,

I've been having the same problem for sometime now and

I've also tried all the steps on the troubleshooting ,,switched
the ports ,updated and then some.I'm constantly getting the Error -6086.
I never had this problem with PT Version 6.9,until I went to 7.0 then
7.1 So hear I seat with the same problem.
It's extremely frustrating to no theres no Fix!

Hope you get it solved! Keep me posted

Take Care

Ok.....I SEEM to be running stable now! Before these steps, I couldnt get through a single playback without the errors killing me. However....one of....if not a combination of the following worked for me SO FAR. Yesterday I did these steps in this exact order....:

1. Verified all energy saver, spotlight settings were set as recommended by DIGI.

2. Downloaded the latest PACE drivers.

3. Deleted my Pro Tools preferences, emptied trash, and restarted.

4. Reapired my disk permissions.

5. Deleted the Digidesign database folder, emptied the trash, and restarted.

6. Plugged my DIGI 002 into the BACK port on my Mac Pro. (it had been in the front port.)

Since, I have had no issues...though it has only been a day. I haven't stressed the system yet, however everthing seems to be running fine. I will report more as I get a better feel.

For the record, I am running PT 7.1.1, OS X 10.4.9 on a Mac Pro.

Note: I have been reading through the DUC on this issues for the last several days solid. It seems to me that this is a complex, ongoing issue, that has MANY possible fixes. I hope DIGI is working to correct this, because it is obvioulsy VERY widespread. In the meantime, hopefully as people find what works for them , they continue to post the feedback to help other users, because this issue is a real bugger.
I hope this feedback helps others.....and I will post more as I find out more.

I was seeing a lot of errors on my 2.66 mac pro with PT 7.3 on OS 10.4.9 when I had 3 gigs of ram. Since then I added another 2 gigs of ram and now I see far fewer error messages.
