Default G5 and Belkin USB 2.0 PCI card for iLoks-Any issues??

Hello,

I was thinking of installing an older Belkin USB 2.0 PCI card in my Dual 2Ghz PPC G5 which has all the Pro Tools HD4 cards in a 7 slot Magma chassis. I have 3 ilok dongles and would rather plug them into the available slots of this Belkin USB PCI card rather then a USB hub.

First off is this card compatible considering I'm using a Magma chassis. Secondly, do I install the card in the G5 or the open slots of the Magma?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I had at least 10-12 USB devices connected including 3-4 iloks all using good quality powered hubs!

I would say you don't really need a USB card unless you're running out of power on the USB.

If you do go with a card then place it in the computer. But powered Hubs will work fine.

Now on an Intel 8-core and have about 15 plus USB devices connected! all using good quality powered Hubs, Belkin or similar.

Thanks! I still may go the hub route but I wanted to know that the USB pci cards would work properly and not affect Pro Tools normal operations.
