mbox 1 and protools 7 dont mix
have a good laptop+ mbox and good speakers.....ur gone of to ....
to find out about good speakers go to a good shop and check them all, best way to do
also a good condensor mic get a nt1 of rode...cheap good and the way to learn not to spent too much money is a better way to learn how to work with yoyr material. its always better to have less and get the best out of it.

I can't help with your axiom question, but Mbox1 & PT7 do in fact mix - been using it successfully since it came out...

PT7 and Mbox 1 work just fine together.

Unfortunately, your question is such a large one that it's not really practical to answer here. Your best bet is to follow the instructions in the "getting started" guide that came with the Mbox. It will walk you through installing and setting up through to recording your first audio track. You can link to it here: http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...&categoryid=37

Be ESPECIALLY sure to make all the recommended system modifications like disabling RAID and setting up your background services. If you don't do that stuff, you'll really have a difficult time. (Sure some people will claim RAID works but they are the exception rather than the norm. Just disable it and elimintate that variable.)

Good luck and welcome to the DUC

That piece of misinformation is getting passed around alot.
From the 7.3 product page in the Digistore:
Quote:
Hardware Requirements:
Mbox, Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Pro, Digi 002, and Digi 002 Rack™
