Hard drive partitioning
I am getting my system set up for the 002. I read that by partitioning my second drive (SATA 200g) that it will drastically improve access times. I was wondering how I would do this and should I have one of the partitions for songs, one for sample libraries, and one for various data (driver downloads, program updates, etc.)
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Hard drive partitioning
Microsoft How To (free)
or Partition magic ($70, but more flexible/powerful) Acccording to digi, partitioning larger drives improves performance, but I think they mean multiple audio partitions. Placing samples, or any other data that you might be trying to access at the same time on the same physical disk is not a good idea, even if it's on a different partition. For best preformance, I would dedicate and partition that drive as multiple smaller audio partitions, and then get a separate physical drive for samples. But that's just me...
