Re: Which Drum Vi has better sounds?
You can also "import session data" from another working session and just uncheck the box for media-playlists and automation. It will copy the tracks along with all of the plugins, panning, and routing.

Re: Which Drum Vi has better sounds?
Wow nice - I have never done that either - but what about the session data allocation? (Where the original session is saved)

File>Import>Session Data alt+shft+i on windows. navigate to the session file you want to import tracks from. click on the track names you want to import and make sure they are set as "New Track" Typically uncheck tempo/meter map, key signature etc. In the bottom right (dont have it in front of me) is a selection box to click on and will open up. uncheck media and playlists (this is any audio or midi on the track including anything in playlists), automation (if you have any written on this track) and any other parameters you may not want. click "OK" and done.

The biggest consideration you cannot forget is 3rd party expansion packs and optional expansion packs. You mention BFD. The 3rd party packs I like are from Platinum Samples. The packs are from different engineers. Joe Barressi (my fav), Andy Johns (R.I.P.), and Jim Scott. These 3 sound completely different as they are the favorite kits and pieces of 3 different engineers, all with 20-30 yrs experience or more, all doing it their way. They all have a bit of processing as well and sound quite a bit different than the "stock" BFD samples. There are other packs for BFD, including 1 of Neil Perts kit, Deluxe that is engineered by Steve Albini, Zildjian sets, various packs from Modern Drummer, and many others from Fxpansion themselves. Slate's stuff is VERY heavily processed. A bit to much for my taste though they rock for supplements to other drum sounds whether real or other sample banks. I have been using them since his original V1 sample bank as supplements. He also has an expansion by Chris Lord Alge who is a master in his own right!!! My biggest issue with them is that what you hear is what you get. There is no molding or shaping them to make them fit to what you want like you can do with any of the BFD offerings. Though sometimes that is nice for moving really fast. Doing a death metal album now where i am combining the Mike Bordin snare from a BFD expansion with the Def Tone snare from Slate and on the kick combing a Pork Pie from Barressi's set with the Mike Portnoy kick from Slates. Cymbals from Barressi and Zildjian set, and the toms from Barressi's set. In other words, why settle for 1 drum sampler!!!

The sounds of Strike are actually very nice IMO. I think you will be fine with ANY of the choice listed above. All the samples sound great to me. These days I just choose based on interface and workflow.

Re: Which Drum Vi has better sounds?
I'll leave it to the fine words of others on here regarding "full drumset" VI's, but I wanted to mention a cymbal-only VI, the Zildjian Gen 16.
It runs in the BFD2 interface, and comes with a copy of BFD ECO (or you can also use it with the "full" BFD version). I'm a drummer, and this is the only VI that has allowed me to easily get exactly the cymbal tones I want to hear. Of course, as usual, (insert favorite homily about how if you like it that's all that really counts) and YMMV...

Re: Which Drum Vi has better sounds?
Got it.... I did the no brainer deal for those as well
I really asked the question and probably should have asked it differently Slate has advertised having radio ready drums - BFD2 is probably the closest you can get to a real drum set - which is both great and problematic b/c it has all of the issues of a real drum set Whanna know if they sound better - different ? Super sounding out of the box? Hyped and ready?
