Default AV recording problem

Does anybody know the following problem:
When recording one track in the timeline AudioVision refuses to play back 12 other tracks that have already been finished i.e. reading 12 tracks while writing a new one on the same HD will not work properly. We tried to use one drive as well as several with no success. We are using AVID drives 18 GB on a PCI System, 9600/350, MAC OS8 (german version), AV 4.1v8

Default Re: AV recording problem

Hello,

There should be no problems with this, I have done it many times with 14 tracks of playback and recording two tracks.

- Is an error message posted? If so, what is it?

- Does the Timeline appear to be playing back and you are just not hearing any audio, if son are you seeing meters on the 888's?

- Does this happen on all projects/sequences or only this one?

- Is the drive partitioned at all? If not, you should partition the drive into approx. 4 gig partitions. This is not a must but you will see better performance from larger drives when they are partitioned.

- Is the drive full? or fragmented?

- Can you try another drive by itself and in addition to the 18 gig drive?

- Try record enabling two tracks and then three tracks and see if that makes a difference. AV uses different "pipelines" for different numbers of tracks record enabled.

Thanks,
