Default Locking a Region \"in time\"...

In Adobe Audition it is possible to lock a clip (region) "in time", so that you can drag it to another
track and it stays in the same "time" as it did in its location in the previous track. You can even right-click the clip, drag and create a new copy of the clip, all while it remains in the same "time" location as the original clip.

I understand that locking a region works differently in PT, however is it possible to "lock" a region and drag it to another track in the same way as I have described?

I use clip copy and drag "in time" often enough in Audition that I wonder if it's possible to duplicate this action in PT.

One method of achieving this would be to hold Alt and drag the selected region, then Spotting (Spot Mode) it to it's Original Time Stamp, but this is if it moves, which it shouldn't.

Use the Grabber Tool while using the Start modifier key.

Read the manual/keyboard commands.

Thanks for the reply. I have the manual, Pro Tools Ignite and Pro Tools Power and can't find a reference to the "Start Modifier" key. Could you tell me what that key's location is?

Holding the ALT key down while left-clicking and using the Grabber tool allows me to copy the region and drag it down to a new track, although while it's in sync with the previous region it isn't "locked" in time.
It should work, though.

It's the one with the "Windows Logo" on it; the one typically used to invoke the "Start" menu.

Heh...and I thought it was a Pro Tools thing. Thanks, spk. I'll have to try this when I get back to my home studio, the one with all the cool stuff. I'm currently at the "other" studio, the one that's several years out of date.

I kind of feel like Homer Simpson when he couldn't find the "any" key.

Well, I tried the Windows Modifier key trick, but it didn't work. In fact, it acted strangely. When I first opened the session and tried it, it deleted the region next to the selected region and then allowed the selected region to be dragged to the new, intended track.
After that initial weirdness, all the action would do is drag the selected region to the new track.
This is all done in Slip Mode, by the way.
