Default ProTools launches slowly

Yeah, hi, I'm a soon-to-be world-famous musician-producer-engineer. The only thing coming between me and untold wealth, fame and groupies is the fact that when I launch ProTools, it first looks for a floppy in the A-Drive, rattles away for about half a minute, finally decides that there's nothing there, then proceeds with the rest of the launch. When there is a floppy there, it reads it, then quickly moves on.
Now, I know I could just leave a floppy in the A-Drive, but, you know, I'm thinking, hmmm, Maybe you guys know something I don't. And I know that having to wait an extra 48 seconds is no big deal however, when you think about it, 48 seconds is probably the amount of time Roy Howell needs to conceive, record, and post a new song. I did do a search on the DUC. Anybody? Thanks.

I found this from JMS40:

Quote:
Try deleting "Recent Folders" and "Recent Files" located, (in XP)

C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Profile"\Application Data\Digidesign\

The way I understand it, If PT is opened at anytime, with a floppy disk in the drive, it will include it in it's drive search from then on.

Good luck-

Besides, the only thing really keeping you from fame and fortune is that we're Canadian

Thanks for your reply, Cliffy-Boy. Unfortunately, I'm still running ME (oh, the shame...); I've never seen any folder resembling what you mentioned. I will look again, though.
As for the fame part, and being Canadian, hey, look where it got Bryan Adams!

and Celine Dion - the beauty from Montreal. I don't know ME and I can't believe you acn run PT in ME. Get XP already.

Right click the taskbar and check properties - the Start Menu options appear and you might see in advanced to delete Recent Folders. Check help since I don't know ME.

Jeez, if you guys are giving me this much static about using ME, well then I'm sure not going to tell you what system I'm running. (Hint: do the words "hamster drive" ring any bells?) Anyway, I'm stuck with ME til next spring when (hopefully) I'll do a complete system upgrade and get out of the Stone Age, and THEN I'll be rich and famous and have all kinds of young female fans cavorting about, and then you guys won't be laughing anymore...
Now, about my little problem?...
