HD | Native Thunderbolt w/ 2008 Mac Pro?
I want to get the Thunderbolt version of HD Native since TB seems to be the interface of the future(?)
However, I have a 2008 Mac Pro (no Thunderbolt) so must I get get the PCIe HD Native to use with this Mac? (or conversely get a new Mac if I want to use Thunderbolt?)

I think you have all your options covered.
One thing to think about is how much longer your Mac Pro will be supported by Apple with new OSes
