Default PCI bus@66Mhz vs 33 Mhz: any advantages?

Are there any advantages for a Pro Tools user to go for a 66 Mhz PCI bus (2.1 standard, as in G3's), instead of the old 33 Mhz 2.0 standard (as in 9600's?), or the card behaves exactly in the same way?

The advantage lies in data traveling on the buss. You can play more tracks, less pci buss too slow messages and video (if you use Digital Video plays back better. The B&W G3'3 have a 100 mhz buss only the beige G3's had the 66.

Well, my 9600 has 33...
Anyway, thanks. The hidden meaning of my question was: are the Digi card fast enough to exploit the 66 or faster bus, or will they run@33 anyway?
I don't fully understand why ProTools runs better on my beige G3/300 (256Mb RAM) when my 9600 has been upgraded to G4/400 and has more RAM (260).

Giulio,
Your referring to the PCI Bus Not Processor bus correct?
Apple is still using 33mhz pci bus I think. The 66mhz bus was on the one slot for the video card when it was pci but perhaps the agp is at 66mhz.
Hopefully In January at Macworld the new machines will have the faster pci bus.

As I understand it, and this has been confirmed by people who should know, the PCI buss on old PPC ran @ 33mhz, the biege G3 runs @ 66mhz, and the B&W G3 and the G4's4 @ 100mhz. This is the PCI buss speed not the procsessor speed. THis would and does make a diference in the ability of the computer to comunicate with its diferent parts HD's, Cards. etc. When your pushing your computer hard this extra bandwith can make a BIG diference if your not pushing very hard it may make virtualy no diference. Personaly I have noticed a big differance between each of those steps. If your running DigVideo (quicktime) and PT, 66 to 100 makes a big diferance.
So it realy depends on what you are doing with PT how much of a diff the buss will make.

The 9600 300mhz and 350mhz have 50mhz busses.

I think there might be some confusion between PCI bus and processor bus.
From what I understood in this topic and in Apple's site,
9600 should have 33Mhz PCI and 50Mhz cpu,
G3 beige 33 PCI and 66 CPU,
G3b£w 33 PCI and 100 CPU.
What initially confused me was the fact that Apple just says that from the 1st G3 the PCI bus was compatible with 2.1 PCI standard, that allows up to 66Mhz, so I though that that was the speed of the PCI bus of those models.
However, if the speed of PCI is the same on all models, WHY THE *#*# AM I GETTING A PCI TOO SLOW MESSAGE ONLY ON THE 9600 AND NOT ON THE G3, WHEN DOING EXACTLY THE SAME THING?!?

The 9600 uses a different CPU to PCI bridge than the later G3 and G4 boxes. The performance of the PCI bus to host memory is greatly dependent on the performance of this component.

Apple publishes a spec on each computer with a diagram representing the data flow of each bus this would be a good place to start if your looking for answers to PCI / Host / AGP....
