Default Any Experience with SSL UF8/UF1/UC1 and implementation of SSL 360 Link in ProTools?

Hey everybody!

I'm pretty curious and interested in the new SSL 360 Link system in combination of UF8/UF1/UC1 controllers running ProTools.....especially since I'm still using my old Artist Mix units and don't like the deep measurements footprint on my custom studio desk the whole Avid S1/Dock system has....
Did anybody have the opportunity to test drive these together with ProTools ?

And if yes, what could you report regarding the following aspects:

a) What about general stability / performance? Any audio system problems like drop-outs, pops and clicks integrating 3rd party and SSL plugins inside the 360 Link sub-system?

b) What does using 360 link do to the overall system performance (especially on Mac since I'm a Mac user ;-)) or in other words what's the footprint of the additional VST wrapping audio engine compared to inserting the same plugins directly into PT insert slots?

c) Does Delay Compensation work properly while inserting a plugin through 360 Link?

d) How's the resolution of the faders and rotary controllers of the hardware units using them in PT?

e) How does the general workflow feel for you, especially using the UC1 with 3rd party plugins?

f) How does PT integrate and assign the faders and sets of multiple UF8's? Via the peripherals dialogue as "generic MIDI / HUI unit" ? Or completely independent from the PT implementation and only inside 360 Link? If the latter, can I see somehow, which faders / bank of faders are actually controlling which PT channels? Does banking more than one UF8 work like "banking as surface" in EUCON?

g) How does 360 Link handle / organize multiple instances of it in ONE ProTools channel?

Any deep insight from users very appreciated!

Don't forget, you will lose a lot of functionality. SSL uses basic HUI for control. lower resolution faders, no Folder/vca spill, low res meters, no EUCON direct softkeys, no layouts. Have you seen the Avid Control Desktop App for S1 meters, so you don't need the tablet on it.

Plugin delay compensation has nothing to do with any control surface.

I'm not talking about the control surface with this question - it's about the VST plugin inserted into the PT channel via the 360 Link wrapper....

Yes. I woudn't HAVE to lose this functionality if you at Avid wouldn't continue stopping the cool product lines (Artist Mix, S3) for much more bulkier or much more expensive ones....

Just say 4 inserts / sends grids in Dock and S6 not matching the 5 inserts grid of your own software.....

Lower resolution faders, are you sure?

Anyway, the responsiveness of the uc1 isn!t comparable

The uc1 seems as instantaneous as analog knobs

Crazy!

HUI is 512 vs Eucon 1024 Fader resolution.
