Default Upgrade my 6 core 2013 MacPro to a 12 core, or get a new 6 core when released?

I have a 6 core late 2013 with 32gb RAM and 500gb storage, running PT 12.6.1

I was thinking of doing the OWC CPU upgrade and upgrading the RAM to 64gb as well. For the 12 core upgrade and 32gb of ram it's around $1200. Granted I wont have USB C, but all of my equipment connects via Thunderbolt, and I wont be upgrading that any time soon. Right now, when I'm running a heavy session, I'm averaging about 65% CPU usage and get a fair amount of spikes causing CPU errors.

Realistically, even if I sold my MacPro, I probably couldn't afford more than a new 6 core at this point, with 32gb of RAM.

Would there be any benefit to spending more money to get the same amount of cores? Or would it be better to spend $1200 and upgrade to a 12 core and an additional 32gb of ram?

Nobody here can tell... we don't know what Apple has coming, or what the cost means to you....

My personal feel would be work around issues, esp. with track freeze and commit if you can and wait and see what the new new Mac Pro look like... but I'm hoping Apple returns to a sane expandable system, and I'll buy one.

"12 core upgrade and 32gb of ram it's around $1200"

ADD GPU 600.00, 128GB and 2TB Boot to your 12 core CPU you'll be closer to apples-apples

Even a new Mini Maxed is 6K (not including any TB/PCI)
