Second generation Mbox 2 Mini and OS X 10.8 mountain lion
Hello.
I finally bought a macbook air after struggling with my pc and pro tools since 2007 to be able to record wherever i am. I took a bite of the sour apple one might say. I have a 2012 macbook air with mountain lion pre installed ( actually 1.8.1), i7 8gb ram with 256 gb ssd. It also have USB 3 ports which my mbox 2 mini don't like. I installed the 9.0 drivers found here http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nload/en379411 The mbox lights up accordingly but when i play back i get increasing popping/sparking sounds. Some times the audio clips in intervals of c:a 100 bpm. I've read other posters about their macbook pro's (read retina) having a workaround with unplugging the usb, switching audio source and plugging the usb back in. I've also tried with a powered usb hub. The unplugging doesn't work. The usb hub works slightly, only it gives me a half a second delay and after a while it goes to the usual popping/sparking sounds. Now this is pissing me off. I know the mbox 2 mini is an old sound card and avid have not released anything official for mountain lion yet but i really ed this to work. Does any one have a suggestion that doesn't include downgrading my os (the macbook air don't have an optical drive and the usb 3.0 don't support installing an os from a thumb stick plus i don't feel like tampering with an os i'm not used to and i'm pretty sure the old os's have no support for the new components in this computer). I'm bangin my head in a brick wall here and is surprised that i don't find more people like me on the forums when searching for this giving the second generation sound card is and have been fairly popular and used. |

[solved]
i figured it would take a year for avid to release a driver for the second generation mbox systems so i bought the focusrite 2i2. It works like a charm. So long mbox. thank you for five years of tracking and head-aching |
