Imagine you've got a mixer. In a standard mixer, you feed sounds into separate channels (your tracks in PT), and these channels all go into the (insert Cleopatra theme music) MASTER FADER. This is like the volume button on your stereo.

The difference between PT and a regular mixer is that without a master fader you can still hear all your audio, but you can't control it. You need to create a master fader (CTRL-SHIFT-N) if you want to control the overall volume.

Do you have the Digi demo sessions ("Be there" or something like that) ? Look at the master fader and play with it.

aprice88, to open a "master fader" track you need to 'create new track' and select the type to be the master. Im not sure if you got that from what was being said. Then you crank that, without clipping, and add the plugs...
