Default Moving to external Drive

I am going to install a LaCie external firewire drive... should I uninstall the ProTools application and reinstall it on the external drive, or is it sufficient to just house the sessions on the external drive?

Any other tips/ warnings regarding the move to an external drive would be great!

Depending on the hard drive- I'd consider using the external drive for storage and use your computer C drive for PT.

Hi VicD!

House just the sessions on your new FW drive, it‘s not good that PT and the session files are on the same drive (digi dixit)

Hope it helps and wish you fun with your new toy!

H.

The Protools application MUST be on your system drive. You cannot run Protools otherwise. Use your fw drive for files storage only. Your system drive is where all applications must be.there are core files stored in your OS system folder that applications use to operate. These files must all be on the same drive.
