high output
hi,
til now i was monitoring over an old konsole, and there was the high output of the digi 002 rack no problem. now i installed a controler for monitoring to have faster access to volume and different monitors. but bow the digi 002 wich is connected directly to the controler makes an overload. actualy i cant hear any distortions but i can see the red lights. so i am afraid of having overloads in some mixes. is there a way to lower that down? any drivers without +4db or something like that? thx kalony |

Re: high output
It's a little hard to understand what problem you are having..
Are you talking about using something like a Mackie Big Knob? The red overload lights that you are talking about, are they on the monitor controller? Are the meters on your Master Fader Track in ProTools going Red? If not then your mix should be fine, unless maybe you are mixing down to an external tape deck or something. Are you using the monitor outs or main outs 1-2? Just use the monitor outs and trim the level with the Monitor Level knob on the 002...?

Re: high output
yeah, the controler lights are going red. i am using main out 1-2. havent tryed it with the monitor out. that could be a good idea.
i am mixing in the box, so the mixed file will be fine always, but if i hear with overloads, it will be compressed and / or distorded in the peaks. how is the monitor out routed? is it the main out 1-2 with 0db? thx kalony |

Re: high output
No, they are a separate pair of outputs on the back...
Only difference from main outs-1-2, as far as I know, is that the have the Level control.. Still surprised that your monitor controller isn't handling the main-outs level.. Is there a +4 / -10 option on the controller inputs or a trim control?.. What controller is it?

Re: high output
well, i was listening to one mix only, and tehre i couldnt here any distortions, but who knows...its in the red zone to often for my taste.
the controler is a cheap one. the samson C-control. it was the only controler wich is working for me. with 3 inputs 3 balanced and unbalanced outputs for diffrent monitors systems and headphones. however....thx for the tip with the monitor output. duno why i forgot that ^^ |
