It could be that PT, since version 8, uses Radius in a different way. Perhaps it's setting internal parameters to different values or applying changes to the time/pitch stretching ratio too frequently — all of this can affect quality. Let's try to get in touch with PT support on this.

Thanks again SO MUCH for helping me get to the bottom of this, Alexey!

Could one of the moderators please forward this thread on to the proper people at Avid, please?

And DON'T EVEN THINK about asking me to post this to IdeaFail.

Because of Alexey Lukin's posts here, any time I'm looking for a new plug-in I'm going to check for an Izotope version before I buy anything else!

I'm impressed.

Just wanted to follow up on this.

Alexey has continued to help me get to the bottom of this via PM, so I'd just like to say another THANK YOU to Alexey and the Izotope crew.

I now know exactly what has happened here and what is at fault. I would urge everybody who uses X-Form in Pro Tools to vote for this topic on Ideascale: http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/81879-3779

Its the closest thing I've found to solving the problem (since Avid / Jeffro / etc. haven't take action on this thread.) I've been told multiple times by Avid that they actually look at Ideascale now, so we'll see if they can put their money where their mouth is and take care of this (despite the fact the Ideascale thread is over 3 years old...)

Again; ANYBODY who uses X-Form: You may not be aware of how good/useful it actually used to be in Pro Tools 7.4! If Avid would just change the settings back, or even better, let US, the users, be able to adjust the Radius settings in X-Form ourselves, we would be able to quantize multi-mic'd drum tracks and change the tempo of entire songs again just like before!

What about the quality of rhythmic and polyphonic settings? To me those were far more useful in 7.4 as well!

Its been so bad in recent years I've been using a variety of workarounds ... Melodyne and Revoice Pro are working pretty well for me.

But it sure would be nice to get a usable XForm again, giving a simpler workflow.

The quality of rhythmic and polyphonic was enhanced in Pro Tools 8+. I think they sound more usable in the right applications. For critical situations, however, I have to use X-Form on my Pro Tools 7.4 rig.

I would love some input from Avid on this thread...
