So I exported my I/O settings and imported them into the new session.

Even though it's the exact same routing it's still out of time on the drum buss

I can't think of a scenario where I'd not want dynamic outboard as inserts, but that's just my preference.

I would start by deleting the tracks where the distressors are coming back into PT, and create them again. If that didn't work, I'd quit PT, delete PT preferences, reboot the CPU, and try again.

Weird that identical routings give you different results.

Okay thank you, I'll give that a go.

So you would use a pair of stereo distressors as inserts on a bus?

I'm creating a bus, selecting the I/O to match the distressors then on each drum track selecting the aux with the distressors on them. is this wrong?

I would create a stereo (or 2 mono) aux, insert the distressors there, and send audio to that aux.

thanks I do that for reverbs, so I can have wet/dry control

but if I want all the drums to entirely go through a bus, wouldn't the way I'm describing be logical as well?

thanks again, very much appreciated

I would always set outboard up as inserts, as inserts are compensated for. It's a good habit.

Try this:

1 - create a mono aux with the signal generator inserted (I prefer a sine wave), and route it to your main outs

2 - create a send on the same aux, routed to a free bus ("Q")

3 - create another mono aux with one bypassed distressor inserted, and set the input to "Q", and the outputs to your main outs

4 - start moving the send on the first aux you created, and the sine wave should just become louder and louder, and in phase

__________________________________________________ _____________

Now, do the same test with the send routed to a physical output with a bypassed distressor, and have the output from the distressor come in on a separate aux. You should get a different result, with a lower volume, and that's because PT doesn't know it should compensate this scenario, as it is not set up as an insert.

I hope you understand what I mean.

That's brilliant thanks, I'll give that a go.

It makes more curious as to why my other session was fine though. I'm following this tutorial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=557aAvY3R84

Was the Aux in PT ever delay compensated for?
