If you plan on buying two plug-ins anyway, then what can it hurt? Don't forget to factor in the iLok you get out of the deal, which usually costs $40 last I checked.

...., ie; for all the lucky ducks that live in the US , International folk would need to factor in added delivery times and Postage Costs

I usually see iLok 2's listed at $50 ($49.95/9)

For me the Slate deal it great. I want longer than 15 days to use them so I can really get the feel for them, there's only a couple I know that I want to add to my Slate collection.

Like I said I'll do it for at least 2 months to get another iLok and access to all the plugins, that's not bad for $40 IMHO. If I just have to own something right now then I'll go to AudioDeluxe and get it outright for less (or get a rebate with purchase) otherwise I'll keep re-uping the sub when I need it, and after 12 total months of that get the $200 voucher and own some new ones outright.

If money is no object for you, then of course just buy them from AudioDeluxe on a whim, but I have to watch how much $$$ goes out and comes in.
