McDSP Channel G vs. Waves Ren Channel - Thoughts?
I've been using RenChannel for a long time, but just downloaded the Channel G demo. Anybody have a strong opinion one way or another on these two? I've barely gotten into the Channel G, but one snag I've noticed right off is that I can't get a real steep HPF on the EQ section the way I can on the Waves channel -- but then again, maybe I'm missing something. . . .

Re: McDSP Channel G vs. Waves Ren Channel - Thoughts?
I own both of these plugs. I have had the waves plug for a few years and the chanel g for about 2 months.
IMHO i the chanel g is a little smoother and more transparent. I have found the eq section to be very usable and the gate to me is exactly like the traditional DBX gates or other hardware gates that we used to use back in the big rack days. I think the presets are helpful (have not taken the time to verify them against their advertised model emulations) Sometimes I will use a preset, but other times will just dial in what i need. It sounds like you're on track by evaluating the demo. FWIW the chanel G is included in the Massive Pak 4 - kinda peeves me a little bit since i just paid $800 for it about 8-10 weeks ago.! But that's the way the technology game works sometimes. I geuss it evens out - I just bought a DP G5 1.8 for $1399 brand new on clearance at Compusa - go figure! Good luck

Re: McDSP Channel G vs. Waves Ren Channel - Thoughts?
haha
I also bought Channel G two weeks ago. It is included in Massive Pak 4 now. It regrets it. However, Channel G has wonderful EQ. It is only a delay of four samples even if everything is used. Of course, the sound is also wonderful. I think it is considerably profitable because Massive Pak 4 can be bought by the price of the unit of Channel G. |
