Default Audix I-5

anyone try these yet?

i went to GC today to get a PA which surpisingly they had most of it in stock, and i was just gonna get a couple of 57's to start on vocals until i could afford 3 Beta58's that way i could move the 57's to my studio, because i hear the Beta58s are better live cuz they have a tighter polar pattern than SM58s and i have no use for SM58's in the studio. anyway the guy talked me into trying these audix mic's mainly because he took 10 bucks off per mic to match teh price of a 57 and he was able to put in some promo code so i was able to save an extra 40 bucks per speaker and said that if i didn't like the I-5's he would switch them for SM57's. so i took the chance, and now i just read some reviews on harmony central where 2out of 6 people like them and the other 4 like SM57's better, and i was wondering if any of u guys have any experience, it looks like i'll be testing these out thursday on some guitar.

Default Re: Audix I-5

IMO the I-5 is a good alternative to the 57 on guitar cabinet, as I'm finding the 57 less essential for guitar these days (I really like the Senn 609). I've tried the 1-5 on snare and I prefer a 57 still (I'm stuck on it).

Also, you mentioned 58's and Beta 58's, and I get the chance to use both all the time in a live situation. I actually prefer 58's probably 90% of the time. It sounds smoother IMO, and I can get it louder in the monitors. Maybe it's just familiar???
