Importing audio takes FOREVER + beachball
Running PT 9.5 on 10.6.8 with i7 920, 12 gigs of ram and RME fireface 800.
Since I have had PT9, I have this issue with importing audio. Audio takes about 20-30 seconds to import. This wasn't really an issue for tracking, but now that I am working on some post production and sounds design, this is REALLY cramping my work flow. On other systems, dragging and dropping audio files into the Edit windows takes 2-5 seconds, and sometimes (10% of the time) that is the case on my system. For the life of me, I can not tell when it will and when it will not take forever to import files, but its getting frustrating. Already searched the forums, but maybe i missed something. Any help woulf be greatly appreciated |

Re: Importing audio takes FOREVER + beachball
Protools stores it's audio files internally in mono. If you import a stereo channel it has write two new mono files into your audio files folder and that's what takes a long time.
