Pro tools crashing when opening projects.

Recently, pro tools has started to crash a lot more often,and it mainly happens when I try to open newer projects. I seem to let me open old projects from last year but not ones I created a couple of weeks ago, at first I thought it was because of the amount of plugins I was using, which was understandable because I used quite a lot, so I decided to import all the files into a new session without plugins and add them later when I had finished the song. I saved the imported version as a new session, however I can't even seem to open the imported file session which has 1 plugin which is superior drummer. It doesn't appear to be superior drummer because I can open it in very few occasions, before I can open it pro tools will just crash numerous times and it gets quite annoying. It has even started crashing when it saves a backup, and when I save it manually it seems like it has saved it properly but when I find it in my documents it hasn't saved anything. I tried updating pro tools, no luck, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, no luck, I took nearly all my plugins out of the project, no luck as I said before. It just seems no matter what I do pro tools will eventually crash!

I will give you this advice before the veterans chime in. Read the "Help us Help You" thread at the top of this page. We know nothing about your setup, version of PT, interfaces, etc., so even a mind reading genius could not begin to help you at this point.

The 'My Documents' folder exists by default on the system Drive (C:). Your quote above leads me to believe you are recording to the system drive. One must record to a separate drive (not a separate partition on the same drive) or Pro Tools will not work properly.

This may or may not solve all of your problems but it's the best place to start. As mentioned you have provided no information on your computer setup. Post a Sandra Report which will give a detailed description of your computer components.

Thanks for your help zedhed I will give that a go however I do not have enough money right now for an external hard-drive but once I do hopefully it will help, I can actually understand why it would help actually. And mjslakeridge I did fill in a form saying what interface/os/computer specs/version of pro tools when I registered, but I have now realized no-one can see it.

I have an ASUS laptop Intel i5-3210m 2.5Ghz with Windows 8
6Gb RAM
Pro tools 10 (Standard one)
Interface - Roland Quad Capture
The laptop is only about 5 months old

I also have started getting a lot of "Access Violation Errors" the 0x0000000 ones (They are different everytime). This doesn't happen when trying to open them it just occurs randomly when recording or doing something but these are less frequent, I am not sure if this is connected to my other problem or not but I just thought I would mention it.
