iMac 27 i7 with 002 (2006) good idea ?
Hey how's it going ? I haven't been here for a long time.
My current 2006 system is PT 7 w Digi rack 002 and a Powerbook G4 laptop with 2 gig and a Lacie Ext 7200 HD. Have used this system for years but I need to change it up now. (had to use few plug ins, also bounce errors). Was hoping to get an iMac 27 .7 (have to get 8 internal I would guess) to work with my old 2006 Digi 002 rack. Upgrade PT LE 7 to 9. I want to finally in my life not worry and use plug in properly. I record all real instruments n vocals, 20 tracks or so. I use Izotope Ozone on final mix. What do you think ? You guys always bail guys like me out here, appreciate any tips. Cheers. |

Thanks.
(wanted a little User confirmation here). Some seem to hate on the iMac but it seems fairly strong for basic setup. I don't have a ton of cash so it seems pretty reasonable setup. Cheers. |

I'm running the 21.5 i3 with PT 9 on an MBox 2 in the B room and it's fast and solid. Have an HD 2 in the A room and I'm totally happy using the iMac.

Re: iMac 27 i7 with 002 (2006) good idea ?
Thanks for chimin in on this.
Wanted to be sure. It seems like it should be not only good but great. I only record 20 or so "real" audio tracks n master with Izotope Ozone. Being able to use more than a few plug ins would be so refreshing. I want to have no plug in worries. Maybe even a "Virtual instrurment" will be allowed this time, heh, heh. Glad my old Digi 002 can be used, it works well for me. Hope I hear more comments, Thanks. If u have an iMac 27 what mem do u have, I'm thinkin 8 is needed. Cheers. |

Go to OWC for ram. Samsung seems to be the best.

I have base 4Gb ram and don't think 'bout upgrade.
Any projects works grate - i have many types of it from small to big with with numerous of audio tracks, plug-ins (standard PT, AIR, Amplitube, T-Racks, Antares etc), submix auxes, virtual instruments, and re-wired application (Reason) |
