Wow, it does appear as if whoever is working on getting the kinks out of the more prominent, aforementioned and long-standing bugs may perhaps be a bit clueless as to the needs of the popular masses... Kinda like the out-of-touch syndrome that currently plagues the folks who work in the DC!

Just my .02¢ worth.

Also not fixed is the Canopus 'video out firewire' issue.

Well, my 8.03cs2 crashed on boot-up with the Canopus plugged in; booted up fine unplugged. And worked once I plugged the Canopus back in while ProTools was up and running. So same as before.

I must say this is VERY disappointing that all the REAL bugs that are stopping people from WORKING seem to not be addressed. While I know that Digi/Avid say they are, but actions speak louder then words and their actions aren't looking to good. It is bad buisness for this company to have post after post about this stuff and they say they are working on it but months later nothing is still done. Logic, Pyramix, etc. are looking better and better and this is a shame coming from a company that was the Premiere flag ship of DAW's.
Please Digi/Avid, fix the MAIN issues!
Rant over......

I meant to post this after City Elvis':

Quote:
I know people are just frustrated and venting here, so...
I remember back in the late 90's (weird sounding saying that isn't? lol!) Buying into the Ensoniq Paris stuff (the Pro Tools competition in it's day). A cool system dreamed up by Edmund Perilli and the late Stephen St. Croix. Plain as day, features written boldly in the brochures and advert material about all the marvelous stuff Paris did. Once you got it hooked up, you quickly realized it didn't do half of what it was advertised it could do feature-wise. Amazing sounding system but it was really just a long expensive road into the toilet. Promises, promises, promises. Early on with Paris, Edmund & Stephen chatted in the Paris forums and listened to and tried to implement users wish list items. Then they just got tired of hearing the regular sh*t storms of complaints from owners and stopped hanging out in the forums all together. Then when you did get an update, it was usually small stuff like this cs update. Then nothing at all....
It all came down to lack of funding from Ensoniq then E-mu to the guys who were doing the programming for it. It died a long lingering death, mainly kept alive by users and underground hackers...
After that experience, personally I stopped buying "vaporware".

PT is still king of the block. Even if it has some issues that have been regularly put on a back burner. But even so, it's still totally usable in the meantime with a few work arounds. I do get the feeling because of all the corporate downsizing going on now a day, there are way too few people working on the problems of PT....
Maybe they are concentrating more on the consumer level stuff to make the fast buck? Who knows...
When Paris died, I don't think anyone ever knew when the end officially happened. It just slowly went away and died a quite death....

Possibly stoned, and it was 2 am when you posted so, I would imagine it was bedtime too.

Nothing of real relevance. Just remembering going down a similar path before with another fantastic DAW.

I saw nothing in there about 8.0.3 killing access to coreaudio through Propellerheads Reason or Record. This is really taking a toll on producers who use coreaudio to make tracks in Reason and then move into Protools without having to use it in rewire mode.
