Default Swapping Mobo & CPU?!

Can I swap out my P4 1.6Ghz & Asus P4S333 with a Athlon XP 2500+ & Asus KT600? I plan to keep everything else (HD's, RAM, Fans, etc.) the same.

Will Windows and, more importantly, Pro Tools find this acceptable? I would not like to reinstall XP and other apps.

Thanks,
Drew.
