Getting sound from computer to speakers HD Omni
How does everyone deal with getting sounds from your computer (win 10) to your speakers? I have the HD omni and a dangerous remote. My computer has optical out but I can't seem to get optical out to Omni optical in to work. Maybe i'm missing something? I have an old central station that also has optical in. Or do most people just go analog out of computer into aux or something?

Re: Getting sound from computer to speakers HD Omni
I use the analog out (green jack) into a Focusrite Scarlett (onboard audio is too noisy) and return it to the console. Then if I have to, I can record pc audio into PT thru my Apollo.

Re: Getting sound from computer to speakers HD Omni
I use a Central Station, but I don't blame you at all for wanting to use the Dangerous instead. Does the Dangerous have no digital inputs. If not, I suggest doing some reading in the OMNI manual as I remember that its SUPPOSED to allow monitoring of any/all inputs without opening Pro Tools
My problem with using the green mini-TRS output is that it tends to sound pretty crappy when compared to optical SPDIF out. Whenever I have used that source, it always has a lot of noise and seems to not have the same frequency response(obviously rolled off at both ends of the spectrum)

Re: Getting sound from computer to speakers HD Omni
That all looks correct to me(assuming the windows setting doesn't have multiple digital options like mine). On mine, you can see 2 HiDef choices, but only the one underlined in red actually works. Now its up to you and the OMNI to figure out how to monitor that input BTW, my optical off the motherboard quit after the last Windows 10 update and nothing I did would get it back until I went to the motherboard(Asus) website, downloaded the audio driver(which was the same one that was in use) and re-installed it. After that and a reboot, the optical out works perfectly(again)
