Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean but this info appears to be wrong. Also FYI- even though it's becoming obsolete, most new motherboards have a built in Firewire port.

Yes, but note that Pro Tools, surprise, surprise, is picky about which Firewire cards it works well with. There used to be an article on Avid's site about it, might still be. Startec is a brand they've blessed.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Am going to rebuild my PC with a TB enabled motherboard and SSD drives and go with a TB enable interface.

Should be able to do that in my budget.
