Sony IMX deck
Is anyone using the Sony IMX deck.
I'm looking at getting one now... I don't have multi-channel (more than 4) audio going into the router , because all of our multi-channel decks are next to the PT rig. I'm thinking that embedded audio may be the best way in.. . any thoughts? thanks |

Re: Sony IMX deck
15 years,
I have used the new deck on a few programs for the Discovery Networks. It is a pretty easy deck to use (compared to say the SRW-5500) and seems to work pretty well. Couple of things to keep in mind. 1) As far as I know Digi has not created a profile for this deck. SO........ 2) There seems to be a issue with sync when "punching in" so we have had to lay back whole show in one pass. Anyone else experienced this problem? Could be the profile we are using. Re: Sony IMX deck
Hey Garret, Sure I guess you could do that. I have been using Digi's machine control with the DA-88 profile (to record all 8 tracks) and have had issues with "punching in". For example..... punching in on tracks 7&8 in the middle of an act/show will put those newly recorded tracks out of sync with the rest of the tracks. I assume that it might be a result of using the DA-88 profile but don't know for sure. I need time to investigate this further. What are others using, with machine control, to control this deck? Re: Sony IMX deck
I've been using the SRW-5000 Profile to control the IMX Deck. I've also had many... many issues with punching in and out with "hiccups".
I've had luck when I will turn off Serial Time Code. Seems to work for me 80% of the time. Still waiting for that perfect IMX profile from Digi! Dallas Taylor |

Re: Sony IMX deck
We've been using IMX's for a number of years. I've found machine control has gotten a bit worse in recent Protools upgrades. We often have to hit "record" a number of times before an edit will roll. Taking Serial TC off does help. Also, we've created a custom profile for the IMX that arms all 8 tracks and works fairly well. I can e-mail it to anyone who'd like to try it.
