Default Quality Check

Currently my main used mics include a Beta 52, 4 C1000's, 4 57's, and some C01's. For the drums I am using the Behringer DI8000 via lightpipe for use as the extra pre's into my 002R. I know the rule of recording is that if you are getting the sound that you like then there is nothing to feel awkward. Then again the pre is the weakness in my signal chain, and I have only had the opportuinty as of lately to record a cheaply made CB drum kit with low cost Attack single layer heads on the shells. I was wondering if any body has used the DI8000 on numerous genres and what were the results of the quality that was recorded into Pro Tools.

Default Re: Quality Check

The Di8000 doesn't have mic pres-it's line level. I had the ADA-8000 (has mic pres) and recently upgraded to a Focusrite Octopre LE and I can really tell the difference. Everything is just "fuller" sounding. I also use Attack drum heads (the Terry Bozzio flavor which are great) with Audix D-series mics (toms/kick) and I am extremely happy.
