Default timecode breakup not stopping online record.

I was a bit shocked to find that when recording some material from a timecode DAT into a PT session, the online recording did not dump out when the timecode stopped momentarily and went to another point in time. It had just continued recording like there was no problem. I'm using machine control, timecode through the serial cable, and I have not selected "freewheel" for any number of frames. Any hints?

Most devices simply phase lock... most digital devices trigger and release.. so if the numbers change, they may not be aware. Some systems have a setting to detect a change in the SMPTE numbers.. but the default is to just phase lock to the synch words in the SMPTE stream - or trigger and release.

I'll bet if you ran LTC into your system it would stop at timecode breaks. Personally, I have enough of a problem keeping Protools locked to continuous LTC code for long laybacks!

I think this is a known problem on the HD systems. (I have seen it happen a number of times)
