Default Audio Interface question

Hello,

I'd like to know the best low-cost ($150-250) audio interface option to use for my PTs 10HD (10.3.5) setup. I just need 2 inputs (line & mic), nothing elaborate. I have a Mac Pro 5.1 2010, 6-Core, OSX 10.9.5, ATI Radeon HD 5770 card, 16G Ram.

The Apogee Rosetta 200 Converter has been suggested, especially for a step up in recording quality & plugging it directly using the Mac's rear Optical ports, I just want to ask some of the experts on this forum since I have been assisted here in the past.

I tried hooking up an Mbox2 Pro, but couldn't get PTs to recognize it, even tho' it was showing up in the firewire listing & my ILok was showing up in the USB listing in the System Report. After uninstalling & re-installing the drivers, trashing prefs, etc, I later found out my particular MBox2 Pro is not compatible with PTs 10 HD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated~!

I've been thru a number of generations of small interfaces, and I must say the 2i2 (3rd gen) just sounds great. Just try to get as modern gear as you can. Mbox 2nd gen is stoneage.
By the way, PT First is not the correct section of the forum for this, is it?

yes. .I have a good friend in Germany who loves his Focusrite, which I recommended to him after his old 003 quite working. He needed to update anyway. It also depends on how many inputs you may need also. I think my friend opted for more inputs. Also, who knows what's coming for this year.

Homepage: https://focusrite.com/en/usb-interfaces

Here is a list here with specs: https://www.focuscamera.com/waveleng...en-vs-2nd-gen/

Here is and older post here that does a blind shootout for 3 interfaces:

I'll rephrase; sounds great compared to other boxes in it's category. And especially older gear.
Have you had a good listen to it, Cristopher?
I can't imagine you'd bother, with all the pro gear you're accustomed to.
(Just having a laugh.)

Just to throw another one out there, I’m a fan of PreSonus interfaces. Something like their Studio 24c would do the trick. Their XMAX preamps are quite good for that price range and their drivers are solid.

Thanx Dave.......Helpful advice as always!

Ben: Sorry about that. I tried deleting my post once I realized that, but couldn't locate that option after posting.....Regarding 'modern gear', with my Avalons & Waves/Izotope bundles, at this point, I just need an inexpensive interface to give me 2 CLEAN inputs & be recognized in the session's Playback Engine in PTs 10HD on my Mac Pro.

gives: Thanx for the helpful links.

Will: Thanx. 3 others from different site forums recommended that PreSonus. I just may go with that.

Appreciate the help guys!

Of course-:). I am doing the same thing right now as I am gearing up for Dolby Atmos here. I have an Avid HD IO that I will sell in a month or two as I will be getting an MTRX for this room. G
