Every day that goes by without The Queens Microphone is another day spent in darkness.

Love this thread!... Waves has officially become the "Fruity-Loops" of recording...
Perfect for those Engineers who hate the projects they are working on.
No need to think, be engaged nor stress-out... just drop those "we-have-done-it-for-you" plugins.

Very funny posts but, regarding the artist series, I don't think they are made with novice in mind. Most times I'll use the Waves SSL Bundle, a plate, some delays, split harm, whatever to get the sound I want on say, vocal tracks.

Other times CLA Vocal just works and saves a lot of time, like when the ad agency wants a demo by 5 PM but call a few hours before, and you're already working on something else due by 3 PM. More often than not, on a properly recording vocal track, it just works. The reverb on it could be its own plugin.

Jep, exactly what I have been thinking. But they probably cannot do it as it's a direct modeling of an hardware unit in CLA room. I think I can hear a bit of Echo Farm in the delay section as well

What gets me is that sometimes they market them as being for the novice. But as you've probably noticed, they work much better on properly recorded material which many times the novice isn't able to produce. The poorly recorded tracks that some beginners end up with need way more chiseling than a "one size fits all" plug can do.

Regardless of celeb endorsements newbs aren't buying API Bundles.

OTOH, a seasoned engineer or producer could absolutely find a use for something in the One Knob series. That's the beauty of being a pro and knowing what the hek you are doing.

Any plugin is fair game to a pro; novice do not have that luxury. So, I could imagine that the trick is to find plugs that both the pro and novice can find useful.

Some people just read too much into the marketing.
