Default X-Curve and DVD Home Theater

I could be out of my mind, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Home Theater systems do not employ the X-Curve in monitoring, and as such DVD's should be mixed in a room without an X-Curve in place. I remember reading that this was one of a handful of reasons why DVD's should ultimately be mixed independently of the theatrical mix. Can anyone confirm my madness?

cheers

Hey Andy,

The article you were thinking of was in Mix Magazine, April 2003 here.

Thanks Sonsey! So, I'm not so mad after all... Looks like I'll have to haul a set of near-fields in to my favourite theatrical mix room to get this DVD mix done.

Someday Andy will come by and visit his next "Theatrical Mix Room" that will blow away his current favorite! Still waiting Andy.

Hey Marti,

Somehow I knew that was coming... My current favourite room is largely due to the fact that it's a short bike ride from my Venice Beach home.... but, yes, I do owe you a visit.... as soon as I have something in hand that I'm really proud of, I'll bring it over and blow YOU away
