Default Pro Tools 101 Official Courseware

Has anyone (beginners like me) thought about buying this?

Hi Cary

Yeah, for what it's worth, I highly recommend it. From the Digidesign overview, it's the same material as an offical 101 course, something that I found very insightful. Thou apart from the obvious Pro Tools introduction, it was more of the course approach to a working method, that interested myself most, probably rivalling 'Musician's Guide to...' (version 6.x), minus the feedback, naturally.

I found the 'Musician's Guide...' book really useful, do you think the 101 courseware would really add anything to that? Worthwile having both of them?

Hi Jenre

Yeah, ummm... 'Musicians Guide...' is version 6.x and Pro Tools' Courseware 101 is version 7.x

A lot of new features have been added with 7.x that would've slightly changed working habits, but not to an extent that you'd dismiss 'Musicians Guide...', in my opinion. I'm like you, I found the approach of 'Musicians Guide...' very useful and would still recommend it as a valid working method. That said, we are approaching 7.2.

Can I ask you a question, has anything changed in your approach since you've had 7.x?

Not hugely. The only major differences to me is the region grouping and looping and also the Istrument tracks.

You know, the quickest way to learn outside of a Professional Certificated "Official" Pro Tools Course(s), is right here, on the DUC. Just browse through the many posts here and you quicky come to realize that there is much to learn.
