Default Mac server HDX

I been looking into buying an HDX system. I've seen a mac quad core with 8gbs. This particular Mac is a server. I'm thinking it shouldn't matter, but does any one know, if the server versions of these mac's work just as well with HDX systems? Has anyone been successful with this?

This one is a mac tower not a rack unit. Not sure if that's what your asking. Which one are you saying is noisy?

Not sure what you mean by "with the server software

", could you clarify?

the X-Serve that is 1 rack unit (ru) high has fans that whine very loudly to move enough air through them

the Mac Pro is much quieter by comparison

So if the server is the tower version, is it the same as having a regular tower version of the mac. Is there an advantage of one over the other?

Check the Mac's model/year
Should have a 5,1 4,1 3,1
Also check the HDX system as well as which version of Pro Tools requirements for OS Versions and other specifics.

Had a friend who bought a "great deal" Mac which turned out to be a server, and he had nothing but problems. Server OS is different then standard Mac OS from what I've heard.

Just my two cents ......
