Resurrecting an old thread because of a new saturator in town. True Iron, by Kazrog is definitely worth a close listen. I like what it's doing A LOT.

True Iron is cool, though it's not doing what HEAT or Console Shaper in Studio One does (at the mix/engine level), not that this thread is about only that.

Talking of HEAT. What versions of PT does it go back to with the DC offset bug (using heat does/can cause DC offset! now fixed in 2018.x something I read..). Am wondering if it was always there or only started happening in a certain version (does anyone know?).

Audified U78 is a cool sat plug too.

For mix wide 'warming' I like heat/console shaper rather than discreet plugs, but the sat plugs are obviously good for per track/source things that need something extra.

I get most of my sat via external hardware, portico silk, neve pres etc, then just a touch ITB.

I'll do that often for quick A/Bs, if I really want to focus I'll bounce down a short passage with the different plugs/settings then play them back on the computer outside of PT with eyes closed and randomly skipped so I don't know which is which.

Anyway, HEAT is great (DC offset bug notwithstanding )

Actually NLS seems to be on sale now for... anyone care to guess?? That’s right, $29. No surprise there!!

Waves stuff is always 'on sale', but it's just a marketing trick. They price them high then pretend they are on sale so people jump on them.

FTR NLS is nothing like what HEAT or CONSOLE shaper does in PT or S1. It's just another tacked on psuedo sat effect that has no real effect on 'summing' like the mix fx stuff in studio one that actually works at the in-between summing stage (between tracks and busses not before and after like all other inserted console emus). Furthermore, waves plugs sound bad, I wouldn't trust their analog emus and especially their console saturation/tape emus.

Of course you have a right to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

You might want to do a little fact checking on what it does, because you’re a little off there.

But you do understand NLS doesn't actually do summing right?

No. Summing. Crossfeed I don't know about in the case of the NLS - just that it doesn't some. I doubt though there's crossfeed involved.
