Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
hi,
I'll admit to failing in trying to learn Pro Tools 8 - as I'm an off and on recording person. It's my kids' fault... anyway... I now try to use Logic. I have an MBOX2, Aluminium iMac mid 2009 and OSX Snow Leopard, running the Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Drivers v8.0.3 for Leopard and Snow Leopard. I have found the MBOX2/ core audio does a weird thing where it repeats noises (like an echo/loop of, for example, the 'you have new mail' sound) and seems to crash all the time. Going into Audio Midi setup and changing the Sample rate from 48 to 44.1 or in reverse then seems to 'reset' the MBOX2 - and it works until the next Sleep. Then it misbehaves again. My question is: I want to upgrade to Lion, and I want to know whether there is going to be a Standalone CoreAudio driver for Lion for the MBOX2. There is some twitter talk about Lion not being able to connect to the MBOX2 at all. I am hoping that Lion and a new Standalone CoreAudio driver will fix all of my problems. thanks |

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
wait. give pt 9 a chance should work great with what you have. did you try tutorials such as www.lynda.com or www.groove3.com they will teach you anything. You got enough technology for the next 20 years already...

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
The standalone audio drivers may be in conflict with Pro Tools. I think the standalone drivers are supposed to be used when you don't have PT installed.

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
Sorry for not being clear.
I have uninstalled PT8. If required, I could reinstall PT8 when the Lion fix comes out... Does anyone know if they are writing a Standalone Core Audio Driver for OSX Lion? I'm sure there are many like me who just use MBOX equipment without PT. thanks |

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
Digi CoreAudio Manager 9.0.3 should work with Lion...
it's not required for Pro Tools Software. |

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
I doubt PT8 will ever be Lion compatible, but I could be wrong.

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
Thankyou Baba Omar Jun - you are correct.
Installed MBox2 Driver v9.0 - worked fine under Snow Leopard. disconnected all USB devices before installing Lion. Lion installed aok. After install - Lion said: "some incompatible software has been put in the "Incompatible Software Folder" in root directory. Pro Tools is not compatible with Lion." Because i did not have PT8 installed (just the drivers) - the only files moved to the incompatible software folder were MBOX2 USB DRIVERS - 3 of them (all dated October 2010.) I assume that Lion moved those files on the basis that Pro Tools (the program) is incompatible. the USB device drivers are not - so install them again... Ran the MBox2 USB Driver 9.0 again. Plugged in the Mbox 2 - Works fine. haven't had time to test Logic Express 9 - but I'm sure it will be fine - seems to connect to the Audio Midi Setup perfectly. Thanks again. |

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
The CoreAudio Drive v9.0.3 is working with OSX Lion for Pro Tool HD | 192 I/O with Logic Pro 9.1.4... but not compatible with Pro Tools v9.0.3 software...

Re: Standalone Core Audio Driver OSX Lion
I'm again feeling that reading is becoming a lost art...
... and it works until the next Sleep ... You have to disable sleep when running Pro Tools. So, follow the recommended instructions (including optimizations) and reinstall what you alread have. And for those of you who are trying to be helful, you really need to read the entire post before responding...
