Avid HDX drivers for protools ultimate

As far as I can tell, none of the chassis that are supported work with Thunderbolt 3 - they all require a TB3 to TB2 adapter, except the brand new Avid-branded HDX TB3 rackmount chassis. However, that doesn't mean it definitely won't work.

If it appears, did you select the HDX card in PT's Playback Engine? Do your HD I/O's show up under the PT Hardware Setup or PT I/O Set up?

Having a similar issue, just grabbed an HDX card for a massive deal (had HDN and it's worked great) and it's not seeing my Goliath HD Gen 3. I'm using the Avid/Sonnet Thunderbolt 3 HDX Chassis. I select HDX from playback engine and it get the "unable to find audio interface attached to HDX card" prompt. Any help would do.

Quick update. Plugged in an HD Omni and got the same message. When opening the TB3 chassis, I noticed there’s no lights on the HDX card. I wonder if I have a faulty chassis. I don’t see a spot to connect the molex connections to power the card

What power cable are you using for the HDX card in the chassis. Please tell me you have a power cable to the HDX Card

I'd be checking that cable, reseating it, reseating the card. When/where have you seen that HDX card work? How long do you have to return it if you were sold a lemon?

Okay. Plugged in the TB3 connection, it lights up

So you mean the HDX card chassis internal power cable was really not connected?

What does digitest say?

You have an Omni and a Goliath and several Digilink cables... so you can test combinations and see what works.

Hopefully you already know you can't chain the Omni and Goliath on a single Digilink chain.

If you have a HD Driver already installed in that Mac that should be all you need. And it would not work this far if the driver was not working. But you can reinstall the driver and see.

But again, do you know the HDX card is actually OK? Ever seen it working?

Yeah I'm glad I didn't sell my Omni or blue face units yet. I was testing to see what works.

I see 2 green lights on one side of the card, and one blinking green light on the other.

See this thread. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=410113 I'd try the PRAM reset Christopher mentions and reinstall the driver. Failing that I'd contact Avid support.

For those now encountering this issue on MacOS:
Note that the hardware driver needed is (currently): "DX Driver 8.9.1 Mac (DMG) 263 KB".
This is required in addition to (current) software driver: "HD Driver 2021.6 Installer Mac (DMG) 275.37 MB".
Note also that this must be downloaded via a browser OTHER THAN Chrome (Chromium system); Safari will work on Macs.
Your Mac will security-flag this download and ask you to allow it.

The appropriate HDX driver is included with the Pro Tools installer image (it's in a subfolder). You do not need to download it separately.

The DX driver should ONLY be installed if you are using Avid Video hardware. if you are not, you should NOT install it.
