Digi 003 Box won't switch On

Hi,

I'm using Pro tools 7.4 with 003 rack with XP. All works perfectly, always has.
Today the DIGI BOX will not switch on. Unplugged power, replugged, no click click sound it usually makes ( clicks once but then no further clicks) and no pretty lights. Is there an easy fix or does it need professional maintenance?

Didn't ever hot-swap the firewire cable, did you? That fries controller chips.

Nothing has been swapped, nothing changed. Working fine and now Box won't turn on. Gets an initial bit of power ie clicks once and then nothing. I tried starting with Aux 7-8 and Mute held but again nothing.

Doesn't sound good, do you leave it on? Does it get good ventilation? Stupid question but is the power strip turned off?

Doesn't get left on, has good ventilation and power is definitely going to unit.

I know there was a problem with 002 with power harness. Wondering if it's something similar

$700 and a month of down time later problem is resolved. Had to send box interstate where they replaced a circuit board. I never would have thought that with normal use that in 2 years the hardware could die, but there it is. Be warned other digi users.

hi mate did the people that replaced the circuit boards give you any info of why it needed replacing? just interested

The component they replaced was the Digital Main PCB - MX003, part number 91505549900. It was replaced rather than fixed as I was told it would be cheaper to replace the whole board rather than messing about trying to trouble shoot or fix the circuitry. Hope no-one else has this problem.

Funny thing though, as I had to send it interstate I had to box it up. Not having the packaging it came in (never anticipated necessity for hardware repairs) it happened that I did still have the packaging for my old Tascam 424 4 track. With some foam, bubble wrap etc it was a nice snug fit.

Hint, keep your packaging. You never know when you might need it.

PS stuff warranty (just out of course). Surely Digi can make a piece of hardware that goes the distance! Never had any trouble with my 001.
