can the current firmware be downgraded to work with PT10?

down grading from 18.3 on you just run the installer and select to uninstall everything including prefs. Then install the old version of your choice. To uninstall earlier versions uninstall and then follow these instructions http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nstall-for-Mac

any idea how to find the date of manufacture of the EuCon silver?
Concerned about the life cycle of the faders and LCD screen and whether parts are still available?
It appears to me that these devices could be 10 years old.

They could be over 10 years old. Faders are still available...screens may have burn in by now and might be a problem fixing.
