Default Unstable after Update 10.15.3

Sorry to say, but after updating Catalina to 10.15.3 my Pro Tools 2019.12 which worked seamlessly before is very buggy.

I had complete freeze of system, Graphical issues in terms of not showing the Menubar of PT. I know - there has not been a statement from Avid that this will work but - I tried - and I failed. Going back to 10.15.2.

Btw. i have completely reinstalled PT 2019.12 after update Catalina - so that's not an option. I have made a check and found (etrecheck) that PT 2019.12 also installs not compatible Quicktime Components (32bit) to Catalina. Maybe that can cause errors - I don't know. First I´m Musician and not tech guy.

Hi !

If it worked well on 10.15.2 i don't see a reason while can't be working well on 10.15.3. Keep in mind it has his limitation in Catalina as said by Avid tho. I will install the 10.15.3 in one of my system today and will be back to you with the results. Meanwhile please trash PT preferences and see if that makes a change.

Ok. After deleting the prefs and the QuickTime files shown in etrecheck

Pro Tools Quick Time Server 1.0
Quick Time_OPServer 1.0
(all 32bit)

the system is running smoothly again. Since they don't work because of 32bit under Catalina anyhow it's no loss of functionality.

There can be as many 32bit components installed as your storage can hold, because Catalina simply will not run any of those.

I have updated Catalina system for testing purposes (clean install later) and all the non-running 32-bit stuff I have here are marked with do-not-park-here symbol and simply will not launch.

You are right. Catalina has to ignore all 32 bit apps. I had some heavy crashes after updating to 15.3. as I mentioned. The first crashes since I use Macs since 7 Years.

So I ran etrecheck deleted the files and deleted the old prefs and now everything is fine. Thats what's all about.

If everything works we can do what we like to - make music
Peace
