With respect Kyle, you can not in good conscience say that particular list of 40 bug fixes and improvements in 6 months addresses 40 core things that have been broken for the last 4 years. Core functionality that has been broken for YEARS is still left untouched. You diminish your standing and esteem in the community by taking the party line and ignoring the facts. As for 3 people etc, good way to deflect. Many others like me have just given up and moved on - that poll rubbish is meaningless coming on the back of being ignored for years in any case. Trust-factor? Zero and falling. Now, ardent digidesign devotees are out in the industry actively, not passively, talking people out of avid products because of what you have unfortunately, as a person, inherited. I have never, in my 30 years as a professional, seen such an active groundswell against a company for their rancidly-poor treatment of an intelligent, rational and discerning user-base. Your own company has an internal philosophy that people are sheep and will take pretty much anything lying down, and your user-base has, we have, for years. You are past that point where the poor treatment of your user-base goes unnoticed. Your company has been exposed. BUT, individuals at Avid CAN and SHOULD make a difference. YOU can be one of the people to not just toe the party line and play it safe, because you will not last long in your job in any case doing that with such a mightily misdirected company agenda.

A company staffed by people at the coal-face who do not care, do not listen, and have CEOs at the helm who lead the company with the question "what if there was no product, what would we look like then, what would we sell? You need to come up with something to sell that is not a product". Yes? If you haven't been exposed to that then you would be one of the rare avid employees who hasn't. Don't be yet another one of them.

Treat your user-base with a modicum of respect and you will get that back in droves, especially when respect from anyone at Avid is so rare that it is striking in contrast to the dross we get through service and "support" quarters.

And you can bank that. Send it up the chain. Make a difference. I feel for you, I really do, you are the point man at the coal-face with the crushing weight of a company behind you that has a public record of not listening, not caring, devaluing their customer base, and underestimating just how far they can "herd' the public "sheep" that buy their products, but more sadly, the bulls**t rhetoric Avid is trying to sell.

I promise I'm not trying to pick fights here (though it tends to come out that way sometimes ), but I have been relatively happy with my Artist Control and my two Artist Mixes. Sure, there's been some bumps, and I had more trouble with them on OS X than I have on PC, but honestly, at the price point they were at, I couldn't find anything else with the feature set. Yes I know, there are Mackie Controls, and some presonus faderports, and a heap of other "options" out there. But none of them supported native EuCon with those features at that price point for me, and that was after 6 months of research I settled on the Artist Series, and I have been very happy with them. :)

My one and only complaint that I have left is that one of my Artist Mixes faders are a tad noisy and slam down to -inf pretty hard, but it has never broken it or stopped it from working in the year and a half I have owned them.

As for AVID not caring, I would have to disagree with that as well. When I ordered my Artist Control and two artist mixes, AVID Australia only had one mix in stock, so they sent that to me straight away. Then they immediately ordered the control and other mix from the US. In less than a fortnight I had my control. They re-ordered the mix for me because when the mix from the US came the packaging was not satisfactory to them and they didn't want to risk sending me a broken device, so they immediately ordered another and sent that mix back. In my books, that is good customer service. They could have just sent it to me, and then given me a run-around in trying to fix it, but they didn't.

I agree, "official" Yosemite support has taken a while, but at the same time, I had been running 3.2.1 for some time on Yosemite before I switched to PC for various other reasons. I'm not saying the Artist Mix is perfect, or even that it is great. I'm just saying, for the price of it, it is the best deal you're going to find on a full featured EuCon control surface at that price point, at least in my neck of the woods.

My artist control hasn't worked properly since Mavericks, and has not had support for Logic Pro X....ever! So.....that's that. I'm glad some people like the price point of this piece of plastic, but for me thats all it is now, a useless $1500 piece of junk.

I also have to say that especially since 3.2.2 is out my 2 mixes, 1 transport and 1 control are working without any problem!

Shift Studios,

thanks for the offer to help. I'm running on Mavericks, and the latest version of Logic. My Artist control is connected straight into my MacPro.
After about 5-10min the whole control surface stops working. First the screen will crash, then the faders and the transport buttons.

Been this way for a long time.

I'm running Eucon 3.2.2

ANy ideas? anyone?

Hi romanoffski,

My first question would be do you have any other network connections (wireless, vpn, etc)? From memory, the Mac Pro has two Ethernet connections, correct? Is anything else connected to the other one?

These might sound like stupid questions, but it's the first place I'd look. :)

Let me know!

Cheers

Romanoffski,

are you sure that there is no hardware failure at your control device? How could you exclude this?

I'm seriously considering a second hand Euphonix (older) Control V1. I use both Windows and Mac, can live without the Mac but not without Windows. Should I pull the trigger or look elsewhere? Is the fact that its an older unit something I should be concerned about in terms of software/compatibility?

Thanks!
