Default Best nearfield/midfield monitors?

A bit OT but as this forumsetion is most active I post here.

I am going to add a second pair of monitors to my studio.
Using NS10+sub now.

If Genelec 1032 still were in production I should buy them but feel free to share some current alternatives to them.

Thanks.

Hi..

Monitors are quite a personal thing...

That aside, i love swapping between my ns10's off a yamaha p2200 amp, and Dynaudio BN15's with a bryston 4Bst amp..

Before the dynaudios, i had a pair of genelec 1032's, and found that the excitement of my mixes vanished when listening elsewhere.. i Love my dyns very much...

But, again, monitors are a very personal thing... Enjoy ya hunt!!

What amp ya got on the ns10's?

Cheers
Dave

lovely nice brand new speaker thread

Dynaudios are the best! Quested's are not bad either! Genelecs are plain bad. I had a pair of 1039A's, not near or mid field though, but these were horrible and it was impossible to get rid of them - no-one wanted em for no matter how little money. Even Genelec did not want them Every other room I've been in with different Genelecs has made me feel stupid behind the desk as everything seems to sound ok just right out of the box when in reality there is much to do. Not good.

My Dynaudio M3P - built as to be main monitors work perfect as near/mid-field, they open up right away and have a pleasant flat response, no flattering. Fantastic speakers to work on.

Don't know where you got your info but the 1032's are still in production. Still listed on Genelec's site and for sale from a couple of different vendors.

Yeah, correct ! I used to mix in a pair of 1032´s in the late 90´s but maybe genelecs sound too good without the "mix" being good ?
I remember I had to cut off some treble with dip switches on the back of the speakers.

I have a Hafler P3000 to my NS10`s.

Yeah, Genelecs can make a mix sound better, but more importantly they have great clarity allowing you to hear a lot of fine nuances and details that can get lost when mixing on lesser quality speakers. I like to alternate between Genelecs and NS10s for best of both worlds.

Disclaimer: I've a pair of Genelec 1031As for sale on the classified board

PMC TB2S-AII here. Was mainly using Genelec 1030s.

The PMCs are out of this world IMHO.

I will for sure check out the PMC´s. I read the review in SoundOnSound.
I guess they will be pretty hard to demo here in Sweden though.

Forget my questioon about Dynaudio AIR15. A digital monitor feels scary to me...More opinons on Dynaudio BM15 ?
