Default Software for DDP master creation...what do you guys use?

I purchased the Sonic Studio PreMaster CD ...but it has trouble running with my 96 interface and core audio.

It basically refuses to save while the HD hardware is selected in the audio/midi setup, but runs fine and passes audio.

If I disable the digi hardware, it lets me save.

The GUI on this software is really horrendous...compared to anything of recent.

Is there any better alternative?

I'm sorry you don't like Sonic Studio, but I grew up on their GUI with Sonic Solutions 13-years ago. IMHO, for CD mastering and/or DDP deliveries, there's NOTHING as easy as Sonic when it comes to placing your CD track START or track END marks and burning. Everyone else makes you create marks, convert marks to regions, blah, blah, blah.

I do know that Sonic is working VERY hard on new versions of PMCD and soundBlade (which is what I use). Have you contacted them about your issues?

Eric ...I just find the GUI extremely old looking, but I know Sonic makes great software...and have mastered countless albums on the old Sonic Solutions systems.
Somehow I just feel that PreMaster CD is kinda abandoned by them...hopefully I'm dead wrong.

Yes, I have contacted them with my issues, and they sent me to their website...where there is a list of compatible hardware.
The problem is that it is from early 2007, and does not mention my HD96 interface at all.

For the same $500 you can buy Waveburner from Apple which now has DDP export.

Oh yeah, you also get all of Logic studio included.

Sonic PreMaster CD working great here. The learning curve is hard, but works great.

BUT -- waveburner 1.6 is not a finished product. IF YOU ONLY USE IT to burn the CD, it's very good. If you use any plugins, or apply dither or do anything to alter the audio file(s), forget about it for now.

IF you do all your work elsewhere, and simply bring in a bunch of 16-bit files for PQ and ISRC, WaveBurner is a good tool. Hopefully, Apple will fix it. But be warned...

Yes it has a checkered past but I thought with the Pro Apps update etc. they had whacked the 15bit bug and some things like it. The cache refresh bug I discovered in 1.5 can be defeated by changing the preferences to not cache.

But yes I would be careful using Waveburner, make sure it is giving you what you wanted before replicating a million pieces of landfill.

Peak and PMCD certainly have checkered pasts of their own!
